Meeting your needs

Pastoral Ministry at The Church of St. Therese seeks to offer God’s healing love and presence to members of our community during times of life transitions. We offer spiritual and emotional support to members of our community. Pastoral Ministry responds to the needs of the community by providing ministries that lead to the wellness of mind, body and spirit.

+ Prayer

As a faith community, we pray for one another during times of public prayer as well as times of private prayer.

This prayer column and the one in the bulletin includes names of individuals or family members requesting prayer. To be included in this column, you or a family member should call the Parish Office at 952-473-4422.

Prayers of the Faithful

Intentions may be placed in the prayer basket located in the Gathering Area near the entrance to the church.  Those intentions are included in prayer during the Prayers of the Faithful at our Masses on the weekend.

Prayers at Mass for Recently Departed

If you would like prayers for family members who have died, they can be remembered by name during the petitions at weekend Masses. Those who funerals are held at St Therese will automatically have their name included in our petitions. Contact the Parish Office at 952-473-4422 for this request.

+ The Circles of the Little Flower

The Circles of the Little Flower for the Women of St. Therese is made up of dedicated women working together to help our parish as well as other organizations with spiritual and financial assistance.

St. Martha’s Circle is a ministry hospitality and service. The women of this Circle serve St. Therese in many ways, such as Coffee Hospitality each month, the Fall Market/Holiday Sale in November, the Circles’ Fall & Spring Social, a luncheon for all Seniors and a Staff Appreciation Luncheon. They host a Movie night each month at Deephaven Woods Senior Living.

St Catherine’s Circle, a prayer shawl ministry, meets monthly in front of the fireplace in the Church Gathering Space. They are always looking for new talent with ability (or willingness to learn) knitting. This circle has provided shawls to comfort many people in time of need, illness, surgery, or for their general support.

 St. Elizabeth Circle Book Club meets monthly in front of the fireplace in the Church Gathering Space. The books for the month are published in the bulletin. If you like to read and share, come join us; all are welcome.

+ Funeral Outreach Ministry

The Funeral Outreach Ministry gives back to our community through the luncheons or refreshment services after funerals and memorials. Our servers, food donors and clean-up crew help us "do for others" We welcome new food donors (desserts or salads) and new servers to help us bring comfort to the grieving.

+ Garden Ministry

Each year we plant and provide fresh produce for our local food shelf - ICA from the Garden at St Therese.

Please join us on Saturdays, May 27 and June 3 at 9:00 for out big planting days.  All assistance is welcome. There will even be homemade treats!

Please bring garden gloves and a willingness to get a little dirty. We will teach you all the rest.  Thank you so much.  Questions?

+ Grief Support Coalition Options

The West Surburban Grief Coalition is a group of Christian Churches providing support for persons who are grieving from losses such as death of a loved one, a friend, suicide, or a significant life change. Please consider joining the West Suburban Grief Coalition program.

+ Community Caring for Life

This compassionate ministry provides opportunities for parishioners to expand their awareness of key issues regarding the sacredness of life at all its stages. Short or long term projects offer opportunities to donate to collections or raise awareness of respect life issues. All are welcome to assist with this ministry. For more information, contact: Liz Lammers 952-261-0563

+ New Parishioner Committee

The New Parishioner committee helps create a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere to all new and established parishioners of St. Therese. This committee plans, promotes and coordinates activities that bring parish members together for mutual support and for the celebration of special parish and life events, as well as encouraging parishioners to recognize their gifts and discern how to share their talents with the greater parish community.

+ ICA Food Shelf

St Therese conducts a monthly Food on the Third weekend food drive for contributions to the ICA Food Shelf. Our gifts help to reach out to our neighbors in need by providing meals to families in need, keeping the ICA shelves stocked with healthy food, delivering food to home-bound seniors, and providing weekend food and snacks to students.

+ Sharing and Caring Hands

Volunteers from St Therese parish and school prepare, transport and serve a hot noon meal the second Monday of every other month to Mary Jo Copeland’s Sharing and Caring Hands. + St Stephan's Breakfast Club

Volunteers from St. Therese prepare, transport and serve breakfast guests of St. Stephen’s men’s shelter the 4th Sunday of every month. All are welcome to assist with this ministry.

+ Loaves and Fishes

Volunteers from St. Therese prepare, transport and serve supper at Holy Rosary church in South Minneapolis every other month on Wednesday evening.  If you’d like information about this effort or would like to volunteer to help at Holy Rosary, please contact: John Gunelson, 952-476-6188 or Terry Yates, Volunteer Coordinator, 952-475-3183
